Shop Updates Update.

Thaw.
Hello,
I just wanted to let you all know that I really enjoyed my break from the shop. I didn’t get as much sewn for myself as I hoped but I still have things planned and am sure I can sew for the shop and myself simultaneously.

I have officially begun to make things for the next update. I’m planning the update on the first day of Spring 2010– which is March 21st. I think it’s only fitting. A time for freshness and new growth. Oh, I’m hoping it’ll be awesome. Scratch that! It will be awesome.

I’ve been digging into those bolts of fabric I received back in December, making/planning spring and summer skirts, nightgowns, maybe even a couple tops or dresses. There will also be more aprons and make-up bags—I’m testing out using a natural stabilizer as opposed to using the poly/nylon interfacing I have been using.

There is also the potential for me to have my own wee studio here at my parent’s house. My brother is in the process of building a big art studio in the barn–which is coming along, albeit slowly. Once he gets his studio finished, we can move his (massively large) canvases out of the spare room in the basement. At that point I can talk my parents into moving all their stuff out (oh, the room is packed with stuff, it’s terrible–see they converted the garage into living space last year and everything got shoved down there) and I can turn it into a wee studio for myself. There isn’t any natural light down there but it’ll be nice to have a place specifically for creating.

What have you been up to–creatively speaking?

Friday Recap

I made this little container to replace this old one because I don’t think I ever liked that green fabric, it was just a convenient size. I believe I’ll replace the tall one as well.

I found some old doodles when organizing.

I’m debating letting my bangs grow out. In the meantime, I can’t see.

I also have a lot of new totes coming to the shop next week.

I’ve added a few new zipper pouches to my shop. I’m in love with them. I plan on making more using some of the techniques from “The Art of Manipulating Fabric” which is an awesome book I got last year for Yule. These pleated/patchwork zipper pouches are another great way to use up scraps.

A few new happenings going on here in the Liesl Made world.
First of all, I’ve updated my shop with a few new items.
Neck Scarf
On through to the New Year I’ll be having a sale in my shop, discounting select items.
Then, come the first of ’09, I’ll begin updating my shop with lots of new completions, including (finally) some clothes like an adorable organic jumper, skirts and more.
As well as officially deleting my old blog. I kept it up because many sites had links to the old tutorials but I think I have established myself enough here make the switch. Besides, I don’t know how many times I almost posted there instead of here. Not to mention, (this isn’t very business savvy of me, but…) I don’t like to have too much of a web presence. I have my favorite sites and I stick with them. I have no desire to get a Facebook or a MySpace. I guess they might be fun but, honestly, I have no idea how people keep up with all of them. Just Flickr and the blogosphere are more than I can handle. And yes, one blog is enough for this girl.

Liesl Made is now officially open.
Come on in, browse around. Here’s a glass of champagne and some cheese. (Ok, you’re just going to have to play along with me with that last bit.) It’s been a long time since I’ve had fresh new items on the shelves. Feeling a bit rusty, but I’ll loosen up. While I was listing the items The Mary Tote disappeared and I was so frustrated, shaking my fist at Etsy. Then I realized it had already sold. I can see why. I’m in love with that fabric myself.

I still have a few things left to photo and upload within the week. Then it’s off to finish and start some new projects.

(I hate how wordpress.com doesn’t let you work with scripts…)
