30 Days of Happiness : The Little Things

30 Days of Happiness : The Little Things
It’s a rather dreary day outside—chilly, rainy, windy. The power even went out for a good three hours this afternoon. Like the weather, I’m at risk for being a bit dreary myself. There are memories of a lot of big things that can’t help but make me sad these block of days, both in the world at large and within my personal sphere. So today I am focusing on the little things that make me happy and grateful.
Recent Creations
Like the fact that I have a few new creations to list in the shop–including two new Lizzy Dish Pot Holder Sets and two new Circle Coasters in Amy Butler Prints. (Speaking of Amy Butler…I just noticed on the True Up Blog, she has previews of her new line up. But I’m sure you die-hard Butler fans already knew that.)

And I started my next round of antibiotics. We are going with a super dose of a different type to really pound away at this lyme. This makes me more hopeful than happy. (I can’t say that taking four huge-normous horse pills a day makes one happy.)
30 Days of Happiness : The Little Things
Things are still blooming bright even on a glum day like today.

There is a pumpkin from the garden on the porch.

PS: I’m thinking a giveaway is in order soon.

Lizzy Dish Table Runners

Lizzy DishTable Runner
I woke up super early this morning, unable to fall back asleep due to excitement. Last night I found out what size my cousin’s soon-to-be one-year-old daughter is now wearing. I know, for her first birthday present, I originally planned on the little hearts banner from Stitched in Time, and I even thought of merging that with the banner from Handmade Home but in the end, a cute corduroy jumper is what I can’t get out of my head. So I’ve been up to my usual shenanigans–browsing around for fabrics, patterns and dreaming up my own designs.

Oh, but that’s not what this post is about, is it? I mean look at all the pictures. I’m all off-topic. Can you tell I’m excited?
Hexagon Table Runner
Onward to the on-topic stuff. I was commissioned to make some kitcheny stuff recently (working on finishing that up today–using prints from Joel Dewberry’s Ginseng line–I’ll share photos when it’s done) including a table runner. So I whipped up a design to show the customer and these are what I came up with. Both have a pleat–one large, one small–of yellow for a little pop. And feature my favorite oatmeal colored linen and Lizzy Dish prints.

I also made up a third for the shop, attempting my first go at English Paper Piecing and I think I’m in love. It’s surprisingly easy and the end result is adorable. Using the yellow-y gold like this makes me think of a honeycomb.
Happiest of Fridays to you all!

A Giveaway!

Pot Holders
I tend to have the worst luck as a giveaway-ee. Seriously, I never win anything. But I really enjoy being the giveaway-er. So I have a handful of giveaways planned in the near future. Up first is this pair of pot holders handmade by yours truly. The pot holders are made with Lizzy Dish cotton prints, an oatmeal colored European linen and two layers of cotton batting. They are about 8″ by 8″. I recommend gentle cycle or hand washing them in cold water if needed.
I’ll be listing plenty of other similar linen and cute cotton potholders in my shop soon.
