This year I got quite a few lovely things. Click the above photo for notes over at flickr on what everything is.

I also got a handmade Etsy gift I’ve been swooning over for quite a while now—pottery earrings from Michelle Swafford Pottery. I love their simplicity and shape. And you can’t go wrong with white.
I definitely can’t pick a favorite gift seeing as they are all so grand. I got a lot more than usual and more than I deserve. I’m so lucky to have a generous and loving family. How about you? Is there a gift you love most? Did you get what you wanted? More than you wanted? I myself was more excited about *giving* gifts this year. You too?

I hope you all had a safe and happy holiday season. And I wish you all an amazing 2010!
I very much enjoyed my blogging break but I’m also happy to be back. I missed sharing with you all. I can’t say enough how your comments always brighten my day. I’ll be back to blogging regularly. I have a ton of things to talk about!
I hope everyone had a lovely holiday–be it Christmas, Yule, Hannukah, Kwanzaa, etc. Ours here was very quiet compared to previous years but very nice. We trimmed the tree on Christmas Eve and my Mom even made a rather tasty vegan version of the traditional kale dinner. Christmas day was spent opening gifts and eating Turkey/Tofurky with some family.

Our family really scaled back with the gift giving this year-one each was the understanding. Both my brother and I gave our Mom gifts from Etsy which I’ll mention in a future post–once I get pictures. Dad got some slippers and a bottle of port. Dan got books. And Kippy got a new toy–even though his tag says Mel, we call him Max. She has a postman we’ve named Lenny. She’s had him for years. Fat Cat, Inc. is the best brand for dog toys in our experience.

From my Mama, I got this amazing book on the work of Madeleine Vionnet. First of all, it’s huge (my fingers are straining to hold it up in the picture below), secondly, it’s gorgeous. So much inspiration–I’m not sure I can handle it.

From my brother, my gift is yet to be inked on my skin. I’m kind of superstitious about revealing things before their time, (not to mention it’s still a toss up between two designs) so I’ll just say it’s sewing related. ;
Holiday Shopping Kick-Off Sale
Published November 27, 2008 Uncategorized Leave a CommentTags: Etsy, holiday, liesl made, sale

Although I’ve seen Christmas decorations and heard holiday music playing in stores since well before Halloween, the official start to the Holiday shopping season is tomorrow, November 28th, or as it’s more infamously known: Black Friday.
And while I love the Adbuster’s Buy Nothing Day and participate in it every year, I don’t think it applies to Etsy or other independent retailers. Honestly, when is it ever wrong to support independent and handmade?
This year I’ve decided to celebrate the start of the shopping season by having a one week sale. From November 28th to December 5th, take 15% off your entire order from the Liesl Made Shop. And for those of you who found the sale through this blog, I’m offering a whopping 25% off your entire order—simply add the coupon code “wordpress” in the message to seller box when checking out. After purchasing you have the option of me sending you an updated invoice with the sale applied, or I’ll refund you the savings through Paypal.
Both of these offers exclude shipping charges–but, as always, if you purchase over $40, shipping is on me.
If you haven’t already, be sure to check out and sign the Buy Handmade Pledge.
Wishing you all a Happy Thanksgiving.
