Custom Make Up Bags.

Make Up Bags
First of all, pardon the blurry photo. It was awfully humid out.
Anyway, I was commissioned to make a set of make-up bags for bridesmaids recently. They feature a bunch of lovely black and white prints and a celery colored lining. With the left over fabric, I’m planning more make up bags for the shop as well as additions to my black, white and red scrap fabric collection for a quilt I have in my head, waiting patiently for it’s turn to be made.
Make Up Bags In Progress
The binder clips are in the photo because they have become part of my make-up bag making process. I use them instead of pins to avoid the holes the latter can leave behind in the interfacing.
Hope you’re all having a wonderful weekend. Come back tomorrow for a giveaway!

Orange Night Gown and More Make Up Bags

Orange Night Gown
I’ve listed the orange nightgown from Color Week in my shop. I made it a while back and I think I used a Burda Style pattern for guidance with the bust—which one I can’t recall off the top of my head. It’s made from a secondhand cotton/poly blend fabric that is either vintage or vintage-look. (I’m leaning towards vintage-look, though it’s tricky.) I also have a bag holder and makeup bag in my shop featuring that print. And I’m working on a checkbook cover and card keeper. Then that fabric is gone.

Make Up Bags Part II
I also finished up the second batch of Make-Up bags. Coming to the shop soon! (I still have a third batch to finish up. Oy!)

Monday Monday.

Good Evening, everyone. : )
After the consistency of posting in July (thanks in part to Color Week) my blog seems oddly quiet lately. I suppose its making me uncomfortable because I have the urge to post something.
Bench Monday - Bright
Well, here goes: Today is Monday, so that means it’s Bench Monday.
It was a glorious August day here today. It was a bit warm for my taste but a major upgrade over yesterday’s steady rain, dark clouds and thunders.
Nap.
I got in a nap this afternoon–there is nothing a good nap won’t cure. Then ate a delish dinner of homemade zucchini pancakes, beets and Jersey peaches.
Make Up Bags - Bunch 1
I’ve managed to get photos of the first bunch of make up bags completed over the weekend. They’ll be in the shop soon. And I made progress on the second bunch. Two are a new style, quilted with cotton batting instead of stabilized with synthetic interfacing–for folks who don’t like the poly/nylon interfacing. So for these, the zippers are the only poly material in construction. Hmm, cotton zippers? Are they available?

Once some batting arrives, I can finish up some projects I’m thinking of giving away here on the blog or the Liesl Made Facebook Page. (Or both!)
Many of the items currently in the shop will be going on sale to make room for new stuff coming throughout the month of August.

Now, I’m going to go for a walk, do some seam ripping, eat more peaches and cherries and dive back into a book before bed.

So, that’s the goings on in the Liesl Made World. How was your Monday? Have big plans for the week?

Think Outside of the Pouch.

Think Outside the Pouch
I decided it was time to break out of the typical zip pouch. I’ve been experimenting with square bottoms, circles and lots of patchwork trying to mix it up.
