Apparently little girls’ clothes are like potato chips or Lifetime movies—you’re never satisfied with just one.
I haven’t gifted this yet, so I am risking spoiling the surprise, but I just had to share this cuteness before I exploded. I mentioned a while ago about the little pink polka dot jumper I made for my cousin’s one year old daughter. Well, I also bought some blue polka dot corduroy at the time with the intention of making a jumper in the style of the Mini Boden one seen here. It turned out great. And adorable. And sweet. And cute. And all those words that describe little girls’ clothes.

Again I used Simplicity 4711 as a guide for the chest sizing and arm holes—just altered to add snaps at the shoulders and one pleat in the front and one in the back and a little pop of pink. I also made it one size bigger so she can grow into it. (They do grow fast, don’t they?)

The Lucy Jumper

I finally got around to taking pictures of the jumper I made. I’m dubbing it the Lucy Jumper because it’s oh-so-cute. Like the Lisa Dress, it’s from a vintage pattern and too small for me, otherwise I’d keep it in a heartbeat. It’s made from Harmony Art organic cotton fabric. I highly recommend trying out this fabric. (I got mine via Near Sea Naturals.) The quality is great and the designs are beautiful. I think a lot of people still think organic fabrics are made of bark and only available in really bland, boring colors and patterns. (I kind of did at first…) Not these fabrics. They help break the stigma and prove that organic can be very hip. (Paired with a pair of Simple’s Flats and you’d really be proving green is hip.)
I have another dress in the works from this material. (It’s double width so you get your money’s worth.) And some zip pouches and other smaller projects planned for the scraps. And I’m thinking of the Lisa Dress in the black and white version. And a dress for myself in this gorgeous shade of green. Oh I could go on and on…
