My birthday was last week and I received some lovely gifts.

The first I was actually gifted a while ago—the DROPS Alpaca.

A new pair of Ked’s. (My old pair have become garden shoes.) Sophia: The Hidden Christ of Thomas Merton. A bottle of my new favorite face wash. And a Moleskine address book. And some money (which has since gone to another long-wanted book and some herbs.)
A few days later a friend surprised me with another book I wanted. (He must have found my Wishlist on Amazon.)
However, I’ve been receiving an almost steady stream of lovely things since January.

Jodi of The Jolly Bee blog (on hiatus right now, I hope not permanently) sent me this adorable Valentine.

I gifted myself a feathery headband from May Bell’s Creations. Mary I went to grade school together and she’s pretty great. She also sent along a sweet hair clip and some mix CDs.

Annie of Knitted Home did a bunch of ear warmer giveaways back in January and I was lucky enough to win one. You want one? Just head over here.

My Grandmother handed down some vintage stationary and cards all in a sweet box.

Then we had a yard sale here and I snagged a few thing before they went off out the door to new homes, like these old plates from Germany. (I also was given something else at the yard sale but I’ll talk about that in a future post.)
But of course, giving is better than receiving:

I gifted my twin brother this book, got him a card via Girls Can Tell (pictured above) and pitched in towards a pair of shorts he wanted from Topman.
My Grandmother is getting a little pile of hand knitted dish cloths for Mother’s Day. My brother and I will, like we do almost every year, be taking our Mama to pick out flowers of her choice. Both will be receiving cards via my favorite card shop on Etsy, Smock Paper. Now to figure out a Birthday gift for her.
Have you been giving or receiving anything special lately?

all such wonderful gifts. i like the way you’ve kept track of it here.
I exchanged a print with a friend and in return received an adorable crocheted owl iPhone case and coffee sleeve! They even had names – Oliver and James. :) All that yarn in your first photo makes me really want to knit something! :)
congratulations on your birthday!
such lovely gifts you’ve got. :)
i received some beautiful forget-me-nots from a friend, and the cutest “babushka” fridge magnets all the way from belarus from my daddy. :)
I made a bouquet of homemade roses for a friend to put in her memory vase for her son, to fill in, when the fresh flowers her husband provides fade away. Her young son Glen past away at the age of eleven from cancer. I gave them to her on May Day.
It definitely feels good to give, especially when it is unexpected.
Today I am making an apron for the birthday girl next door!! Her special day is on Saturday May 12th.
Happy belated birthday. Such lovely gifts! The yarn makes me want to touch it, is alpaca wool soft or scratchy?
You’ve gotten some really great gifts!
I just gave my nephew a stuffed puppy yesterday :) still not sure what I will be giving my mom this weekend… guess I better get working on that!
Happy belated birthday! What a lovely post; and all, such beautiful gifts. I’m honored that you included your ear warmer :) Thanks for the link!
