I don’t think I have the vocabulary to fully express how excited I am. I am knitting. Like for real. Not only have I learned to properly knit and purl (and fix my mistakes) I know how to do things like ssk and k2tog and more! The mishmash of letters and numbers that used to terrify me in knitting patterns, isn’t so scary anymore. Just break it down stitch by stitch.

I’ve been playing around with some of the practice projects in Knitting for Dummies to get the hang of things. The one above is the start of the Scalloped Scarf. (I’m not actually going to complete it—like I said, I’m just practicing.) I’d love to dive into all kinds of projects, but my stash is limited to a bunch of cottons and some acrylics that were given to me by my Grandmother many years ago. And my wallet isn’t allowing me to splurge on yarn right now.

One yarn I do have a lot of is this “sea teal heather” Brunswick Windrush acrylic yarn. So I am going to attempt the Pine Forest Baby Blanket. It consists of the gull lace stitch and, while perusing Ravelry, I noticed this pretty cardigan also uses the same lace stitch. (And did you know there is a Liesl sweater?) Oh, sweaters and socks are two things I am most excited about making! Though two things I’m still too nervous about. Someday, someday!

Go you! I keep saying I’m going to learn to knit and even had one slooooow lesson, but still I go back to my hook! I need to learn. you make it look so easy!
I’m so excited for you, Liesl!!!! Your knitting looks wonderful. It is like cracking a code. You’ll be knitting sweaters and socks sooner than you think, I’m sure.
You are really doing it! I’m not surprised at all that you were able to pick up knitting lickity split!
I found your site via Jodi’s.
Good luck! By the looks of your swatches, you’re catching on quite well.
Dear. Leisel,
You have a gift for knitting, like a duck to water ! I adore the scalloped scarf you’re working on. As you know I pinned it so that I could just enjoy looking at it often. A simple but wonderful pleasure for me. I thank you.

Yay! So excited for you! Isn’t it fun when you start getting it?

You’ve really picked it up! Congratulations! I’m jealous of your scalloped scarf; I haven’t mastered that pattern yet.
Good luck with the socks & sweaters. They are a challenge, but so much fun when you get to hold up (or wear) your finished product and say, “I made this!”
