Hexie Clock.

Hexie Clock
Remember that weekend project I hinted at, oh, ages and ages ago? Well, I did *not* finish it in a weekend. I started out strong, sewing those hexagons together then it kind of dwindled out. This is why I try not to talk too much about what I am going to do/make because I’m very fickle and things can easily get shuffled to the bottom of my to-sew pile. This project spent a little time under some more intriguing (at the time) projects but I pulled it out a while back with a new found interest and completed it–only to forget about it again. I finally hung it up and got pictures just recently.
Hexie Clock Detail.
Somehow a simple circular plastic clock with grapes printed on it made its way into our house. I found it when cleaning out the spare room to turn into mon petit atelier. I double checked with my Mom that it wasn’t anything sentimental or significant and got the go ahead to tear it apart.

Like I said, I hand sewed hexagons, ironed a little interfacing to the back (which made it pucker in places, unfortunately) and temporarily attached the whole thing to the face of the clock, reattached the hands and voila, I ended up with a pretty clock for my studio. The reason I temporarily attached the hexies to the clock face is because I originally planned on embroidered numbers or lines on to them, but I’ve decided to give reading it without any guides a try for a while.

Cute! Love it, I think it will look fine with or without numbers/hashmarks. Me, I can’t read blank clocks. :)

I actually think the (minimal) puckers add to the sewing aesthetic that hexies represent! wonderful one-of-a-kind!

The is awesome! I REALLY love this. Just perfect for your studio. And you sound like you are like me with projects – fickle! But at least you get back to yours and finish them…I still have a pile of projects-in-waiting!
