The past couple days have been so busy it was nice to have a break today and just relax. Did laundry, ate a yummy lunch, sewed a bit and took a nap. I also noticed the dogwood is the quickest turning tree around here. It’s looks so beautiful in the afternoon sun.
Finally getting a chance to wear the Simple slippers I got on sale way back when, when it was too warm for them. Now they are keeping my toes toasty on these early autumn days. (I know that technically it’s still summer, late summer to be exact, but it just feels like autumn already. And I’m always so excited and can’t wait for this season to arrive, I probably jump the gun a bit.)
But I’m still hanging clothes out to dry.
Now I know I’ve posted so many photos of my pets since starting this Happiness Journey, but they are going to creep into this post as well. All the animals around here are such a wealth of joy, not only to me, but everyone.
I’m not sure I’ve officially introduced you to our dog, Kippy. She’s a sweetheart. A little neurotic but still sweet. She’ll be 11 in November but acts like a puppy. (You can also see another pair of my Simple Shoes in that photo. What can I say? They make great shoes. I really want these.)

Tonight I’m contemplating going to a neighbors bonfire. They are lighting pine trees, apparently they burn beautifully.

Do their shoes last for a while? I can’t remember. I haven’t had any since my Simple clogs in high school (like, 10 years ago).
