Just put this Harmony Art Organic cotton twill sateen wrap skirt in the shop. It’s available in small, medium and large. Check out the listing for more info.
(It’s my goal in 2011 to offer more organic items–so expect to see more Harmony Art prints in skirts, dresses, pjs and tops!)

Every gal deserves a little black dress. Or one in any color for that matter.
I finished this dress a week or so ago. But I waited for it to snow to take pictures. It’s just like the usual dresses you see here, except I made the neckline square. The print is a Joel Dewberry I got on sale. I actually got quite a few yards, so I can offer a custom listing in the shop.

I wish I had some crafty stuff to show you all, but all I’ve been sewing has been Camille skirts and pajama pants for custom orders. And a few gifts, which I can’t share here yet. For those of you making gifts, how is it going?
I’m going to bore you all with some outfits I wore this past week. I went and joined Chictopia. I’m hoping the inspiration there encourages me to be braver with my looks! So far, taking photos of myself in my outifts (since Spring or so) has helped keep me out of my PJs all day. (I’m one of those strange people who doesn’t like staying in their PJs all day. Oddly enough, it usually makes me feel depressed. So I avoid feeling blue by getting a little dressed up–even if I’m not going anywhere.)

I also managed to make myself a skirt for Thanksgiving. I even made it a smidgen larger in the waist, taking into consideration how much one eats on this feasting day. (And boy did I eat!) I wanted it to be more swishy and less structured than this skirt or this one. So I basically used the skirt pattern from the Coffee Date Dress. I have no idea what this material is. It was given to me secondhand. I think it’s a blend of sorts? I don’t know much about fiber beyond cotton, cotton/poly and linen. Actually, that is a goal for 2011—to learn more about fiber.

Now to think of outfits to make for Yule/Christmas and New Years. Somewhere I’ll fit this in between those quilts, other gifts and custom orders!

I had the idea to make up some of these holiday shorts for the shop a while ago but figured I’d be too busy. Then yesterday I had this burst of energy and whipped up three pair to photograph. So now I am offering custom size listings in the shop.

I can make pants out of any of these prints too. I was given a ton of these fabrics from my cousin. (Remember?) I’m only making the pants on request though. So contact me if you’re interested and I can set up a listing for you!

I’m thinking maybe I’ll do a giveaway for a pair of these in a print of the winner’s choice. Maybe for the Sew Mama Sew Giveaway Day—that’s coming up soon, isn’t it?

Remember how I just took this out of the shop, to keep for myself? Well, I found some more of this print. So the Juliet Dress is back in the shop, now as a custom listing!

Well, removing items from the shop and keeping them for myself is become commonplace. I had this skirt made from a secondhand plaid in my shop as a custom listing but just keep eyeing up the fabric while in my studio. I eventually decided to just make it to my measurements and have a new autumn skirt. I’m happy.

I had better photos, taken outside in nice light, but accidentally deleted them. So I tossed yesterday’s outfit on again this morning and snapped a few shots.
I’m off to the studio to finish up another skirt for myself!

I recently finished up this top. I used some leftover Leanika Jardin Gray from this dress. It has bias binding straps/arm holes, elastic gathered neckline, and sweet button and loop detail in the back. It’s the perfect sleep shirt.

I’m pretty sure it was a Simplicity or New Look pattern. I traced the pattern pieces onto freezer paper and then resold the original on eBay. This was way back in the day, before I thought about things like noting pattern numbers. This all means I didn’t have directions, so I just winged it.

If I make it again, I’ll make it longer. I think I copied another variation from the original as well, one without an elastic neckline, so I may give that one a go too.
