Yarn Along

Yarn Along
For quite a while now, I’ve seen posts on Jodi and Allison’s blogs almost every Wednesday titled Yarn Along. They share what they are knitting/crocheting and what they are reading via a prompt at this blog. Since I’ve begun knitting, I figured I’d join in. So here is my first Yarn Along.

I’ve decided, since I have a bunch of cotton yarn from my Grandmother, I’d give that Hanging Mitered Towel a go. I’m a little nervous about the hanging loop part. It requires doubling up the yarn and a button hole. But I’ll persevere.

The book I have my nose in now is Elizabeth Bowen’s To the North. I’m a sucker for pretty covers so I was won over when I saw it recommended to me on Amazon. I’m only forty pages in but so far so good.
Knit.
Do you have a project on your needles (or hook!) and your nose in a book? (Maybe I should get into audio books so I can do both at the same time!) Go ahead and share it over at this (quite lovely) blog!

A Few Footnotes:
A little more info about yesterday’s post: Apart from trims, I hadn’t cut my hair in ten years. It was down to my butt. Monday night, I cut it myself. The braid is about 26″ long. I’m still up in the air about what to do with it—eventually I’m sure I’ll donate it* but right now I’m keeping it. I’m still playing around with styling my new bob, but once I get the look I like, I’ll share “after” photos.
*Locks of Love has gotten some flack over the years, so I want to be sure it goes to the right place.

As far as Monday’s post: Thank you all for the book recommendations! They’ve all be added to my list.

I don’t think I mentioned it here but there is a wickedly awesome giveaway going on over at Jacquie’s blog, Under the Shade of a Bonsai Tree. If you win the grand prize, you’ll get, among many other great things, a pair of my pot holders!

congratulations on your first yarn along….I think I found it through Allison, too…I love her “field wonderful” blog. I started a few months ago…I will knit a little here and there, but prefer to crochet. That does look like a good book….pretty fur cloak on the cover, I see it was written in 1932!

I like the pink you’re using! I’m a big sucker for covers too, sometimes I’ll go to the bookstore without any books in mind to buy and just browse, I’ll buy whatever catches my eye :)

and I just saw the hair! wow! I can’t wait to see what your new ‘do looks like

Welcome to your first yarn along. I jumped in too when I saw several bloggers saying something about a yarn along. I love the ideas and books and people whom I’ve ‘met’. The teatowel looks like a great pattern. And yeah for cutting your hair – that’s a scary thing to do. But as I always tell myself and my daughter…it’ll always grow back.

    Welcome, welcome!

I think he teatoel will not be as intimidating as you think. Best of luck to you.

Glad to see you joining up! I hope the tea towel goes well for you…cotton yarn is just perfect for that! Funny, I am trying to grow my hair out :)

    Welcome to the yarn along!

I really like the photo of your hands as you’re knitting. It makes me want to get a tripod just to try or else wrangle K into taking a photo for me. The tea towel looks so cheery. Good luck with the loop. I bet when you come to it, you’ll find it’s not so hard after all.

And I’m glad to hear you’re trying cables without a cable needle. I’ve found it’s much faster than with a needle and makes projects less intimidating.

I love the pink yarn too! I am positive the loop will be a snap.

That rich pink yarn leaves me craving a lovely, pink-frosted cupcake. *wiping drool off corners of mouth* *sigh*

This is probably a stupid question, but…What nail polish are you wearing? I have to find some of it. So gorgeous!
