Every woman needs a little black (preferably linen) pencil skirt in her wardrobe. I’ve looked high and low over the years for that skirt, with no success. It either had too many fancy details or was ridiculously over-priced. So I finally decided to just make my own. Why I didn’t do it sooner, I don’t know. But I have been so happy with this skirt and wearing it all the time, especially with pretty tights.
Along with my dark rinse skinny jeans and my age-old corduroy blazer, I think this is slated to be a staple for me. I foresee a lot of use out of this skirt–I mean, it goes with everything.
Now to think of the little black dress…
How about you? What are your wardrobe staples? Any of them handmade?

It’s lovely – you did an awesome job!
i think if i were to find a dress to fit me, it would have to be handmade to my proportions. once in a while i drive myself crazy looking for the perfect dress, and then i give up. i’ve kind of given up on pants too, for now, though i’m sure i could find some great jeans with some effort. i’m tired of stuff that’s so tricky to fit.
my wardrobe staples are skirts as well, but knit fabrics in varying lengths, slightly a-line in cut. i don’t own any handmade clothes, though i wish i did!
i also have an ankle-length silk (woven) skirt which is a bit full for my tastes, but i love it–i can just throw it on but it’s comfy and feels so elegant.
Good for you! It looks amazing. Hmmmm staples, I would have to say jeans and flip flops…not hand made. Some of my favorite handmade clothing items are my skirts made by various Mamas…love em!

love the skirt! I love skirts but I never feel very comfortable in them. My wardrobe staple is flat shoes, I love flat shoes! I wear a pair almost every day.

this is such a pretty, classic skirt. i’m sad to say that none of my wardrobe staples are handmade, but i may have to remedy that! i wear a lot of my mom’s old clothes–her high school sweater is my favorite. it’s so sweet and worn in. plus it has the initials of her school embroidered on the front and her name written on the tag.
what a GREAT skirt! i love it! It’s a good length, too – not to short, but not too long. you are fantastic, Liesl!
Love your skirt. You look really great in it! My staples…well, since I stay home and babysit so much, I prefer jammie pants and henley shirts but I usually wear jeans when I leave the house.
